Chatbots as Study Tools?
ChatGPT and chatbots based on language models can serve as useful sparring partners or even tutors (if you don’t have a friend or teacher nearby, which is usually a much better and much more fun solution!) If you paste in your prompt some reading materials and ask the chatbot to create some challenging questions, you can practice for your studies. But BEWARE! First, you can never be sure that the model provides correct answers. Remember: the model generates language, as it has learnt to do that, and it does not have access to an internal database of facts. Second, be careful if you do not include directly in the prompt any text, but just rely on knowledge the model has already acquired in its training: you have much less control over it, and unless you’re an expert it’s very hard to tell if what you get as output is correct. Always use these tools wisely and responsibly!
